Be part of our ongoing commitment to excellent delivery and integrated care.This post is suitable for an experienced and qualified Occupational Therapist (Dip OT, BSc Hons OT, MSc OT or equivalent) registered to practice with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). It will suit someone who has experience of a previous management role or an ambitious and experienced Occupational Therapist who would like the opportunity to gain managerial experience in a supportive and busy setting.In this role you will be leading and managing an Occupational Therapy team consisting of a mix of experienced Band 6 OT's, Band 5 OT's, OT Assistants (Social Care Assessors) and students based at Care Direct Plus in Newton Abbot. The team triage incoming referrals to Adult Social Care for Southern and Western Devon, and complete initial telephone assessments giving advice and signposting, undertake face-to-face visits and refer onto other teams and services when required, applying a strengths-based approach to promote safety and independence.
You will oversee the standards and quality of assessment and interventions undertaken by the team, manage practice and risk including overseeing workflow, provide expert advice, respond to complaints, work closely with other agencies, seek to further improve and develop practice and contribute to the strategic development of the Occupational Therapy role.You will be liaising closely with Care Direct Plus colleagues and the Centre Manager as part of a local management team. You will support OT staff to work closely with a range of other teams and sectors, as part of joined-up health and social care arrangements for the delivery of services to the public.You will need to demonstrate a proven track record of working in social care or health environments, including having undertaken complex case management and exercising extensive clinical knowledge. You will have some experience of supervising staff, and the ability and enthusiasm to develop your existing management and leadership skills, together with a commitment to supporting colleagues.You will need to be able to negotiate and influence others, and create effective working relationships. You will need to proactively support and supervise staff effectively, within a performance framework, and provide sound consistent clinical advice, demonstrating good judgement. You will need to be an excellent team-player in order to contribute to the management and throughput of work.Representation of the service at a variety of county and locality-wide meetings will also be required, together with the ability to think innovatively and implement change. You will need to be confident in your practice, person-centred and keen to lead, manage and develop an established team.You will receive regular support and supervision and access to training/ Continuing Professional Development with opportunities to reflect on your practice
