Fixed Term 12 months
Full time, 37 hours per week
If you have good leadership and project management skills and experience of directing project teams to deliver outcomes to time and budget, combined with specialist knowledge in cloud-based telephony, we want to hear from you.
Devon County Council’s Digital & Technology Service (D&TS) has an exciting opportunity for a 12-month, full-time fixed term contract IT Project Manager to manage the migration of our telephony infrastructure from our current Skype for Business platform to the cloud, delivered via Microsoft Teams.
The daily use of Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams has become central to the operation of Devon County Council as working from home has increasingly become the norm for most staff. This project is therefore key to the Council’s Digital and Technology Strategy in the next 12 months.
You will need to be able to evidence strong skills in structured project planning and control, including the management of risks and issues. The role will involve detailed planning and close working with our in-house delivery partner, Scomis ICT Services, and with external suppliers. You will be equally comfortable discussing the technical detail with subject matter experts, planning user education for 4,500 staff, or explaining the benefits of the technology to senior management.
The IT Project Manager Job Description provides an indication of the post’s roles and responsibilities. These include creating and maintaining detailed plans, managing delivery of technical and non-technical work packages, and co-ordinating technical and non-technical staff.
If successful you must be able to attend Devon County Council sites where required to meet the demands of the project. However, as staff are currently working from home wherever possible, you must be confident about leading a virtual team remotely.
Working for DCC offers benefits such as flexitime, Local Government Pension Scheme, a staff discount scheme, and 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays. For more information please look at our Working for Devon website.
