Devon Youth Offending Service is looking for two full-time grade ‘F’ Youth Justice Service officers.

The first post is that of a Parenting Worker. You will be required to work with the parents of children working with your colleagues in the Devon YJS to assist them in communicating better with their children. This will involve working with parents or carers, either individually or in a group setting, but also in working with parents/cares together with their children. Previous experience of this type of work will be required, ideally you will have experience of working in a Youth Justice setting but if you do not have this a willingness to learn will be needed. This post can be based in Exeter or Barnstaple depending on your home location.
The second post is that of a reparation worker and victim contact officer. Reparation is an important part of the work of Devon YJS and involves children putting right harm they have caused, this could be by practically repairing something or by doing work for the benefit of the wider community. As this post will have responsibility for large allotment site in Newton Abbot previous horticultural experience will be required.
Victim contact work is where Devon YJS speak to victims of crime and ascertain how best to put right what has taken place. Ideally you should have experience of this work but if you do not a willingness to learn will be an advantage.
In terms of qualifications, you will need a relevant degree level qualification or level 4 vocational qualification, or proven experience at that level within a children’s services environment. This post will be based in Exeter.
The Devon Youth Justice Service (formerly known as Devon Youth Offending Team) is a multi-agency team made up of staff from a variety of professional backgrounds who work with young people and their families to reduce offending and re-offending. You should be enthusiastic, have the ablility to proactively use your initiative and motivated to work creatively with young people, their parents/carers, other professionals and with victims of crime.
You would be required to travel to meet with service users across the area when needed.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
