A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term Social Care Assessor working accross North Devon.
The post can be offered as either a fixed term or secondment opportunity (for those looking to develop their Mental Health skills) with funding for the role confirmed until 31st March 2023. Flexible base accross North and Mid Devon with some home working.
This is a good opportunity for someone who wishes to progress their career in the social care field or an exciting secondment development opportunity for an established social care assessor wishing to gain frontline mental health experience. You will learn new skills and you will be supported as you gain experience through regular supervision.

Social Care Assessor
The role will require you to assess people to promote independence, supporting an asset-based approach which seeks to optimise opportunities for people to reduce and delay their need for formal care and support. Undertake assessments of need and eligibility; develop and review personalised support arrangements that will enable people to maximise their independence and maintain safety and well-being on their recovery journey. The scope of the role is to work with individuals with a primary mental health need.
We are looking for applicants who will be confident in working with people in sometimes difficult situations, their carers, and other professionals. You will have experience of working in a health or social care environment and have a good understanding of human needs. You will also ideally have experience of undertaking assessments.
You should be an effective communicator both verbally and through written formats, able to prioritise your work load, manage conflict effectively, be flexible, have good time management skills and be able to work under pressure. You need to be IT literate and willing to develop your skills. You will be committed to equality and diversity, good customer service, be enthusiastic and look to achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable people.
