Are you a qualified Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Nurse or chartered Psychologist?
Would you like to develop your skills and applied knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty?
If the answer is yes, then Devon County Council DoLS Service have a number of new Best Interests Assessor (BIA) posts available which would offer an exciting career development opportunity for either a qualified Best Interests Assessor or a suitably qualified professional with 2 years post qualified experience who would like to undertake the specialist BIA or future AMCP training.
Best Interests Assessors are essential to the DoLS and have a range of duties that fall to them under the statute. BIA’s are responsible for undertaking a number of the assessments required to enable a deprivation to be authorised and have a key role in ensuring that the person’s human rights are upheld, and that they are represented and supported to challenge their Deprivation in the Court of Protection.
Devon DoLS Service is gearing-up for the legislative changes related to the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act (2019) and the introduction of the new Liberty Protection Safeguards. Successful candidates will be expected to undertake and complete any required additional training to enable them to become an Approved Mental Capacity Act Professional (AMCP) when the new Safeguards come into force.
What we can offer to you:
There are a number of BIA posts available, and training will be provided for the right candidates. This is an opportunity to join the service at an exciting time of significant change and be at the forefront of rights-based practice for everyone over 16 years of age who is deprived of their liberty.
Flexible working arrangements may be considered.
Interviews are due to be held on 15 th and 16th September 2022
